Sun Rearchitects Java Once Again
In addition to Java 2 Enterprise Edition and Java 2 Standard Edition, Sun will now offer Java 2 Micro Edition, which will allow developers to add optional "profiles" for telephones, Personal Digital Assistants and so on. Sun also said it will make 3Com's PalmOS a reference port for Java 2 and announced a new Java Virtual Machine--formerly codenamed the KVM--for the wireless market developed in conjunction with Motorola Corp.
